Unknown Person Made “Derogatory” Comments Against Telangana CM
According to a release from Hyderabad police, the complainant, employed as the state secretary of the Congress social media cell in Hyderabad, found an “offensive” video while browsing the internet on March 10. The video, which was circulated on the micro-blogging site, showed a representative of the online news channel interviewing an unidentified person in a “provocative” manner. During the interview, the unidentified person made “offensive” remarks against the Telangana chief minister, which clearly indicates a deliberate attempt by the channel to defame and spread false propaganda, police said. Moreover, the user of the micro-blogging site was circulating and amplifying the video containing objectionable content, causing it to go viral.
Request Not to Share the Video
During the investigation, the police arrested Revathi, the managing director of the online news channel, and Sandhya, a reporter with the news channel. Revathi, who is also a journalist, said in a post on 'X' on Tuesday: “Please do not share this objectionable content!!! Cases will be filed. Here is a video of my team @pulsenewsbreak talking to an old man. He expresses his frustration on various issues in his own language."
First Two Cases Registered Against Revathi
The police further said that two cases were earlier registered against Revathi. In the first case, she was accused of verbally abusing a Dalit man in a live show. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police urged citizens to be cautious while posting and dealing with objectionable content on social media platforms. The police said that circulating derogatory, insulting, or inflammatory content against a particular person, especially targeting public figures and government officials, is a punishable offense under the law.
