Israel: IDF counterattack in response to Houthi attack

Yemen's Houthi rebels, backed byIran, have been carrying out heavy attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The Houthis have recently attacked a Liberian-flagged ship, prompting theIsraelDefense Forces (IDF) to launch counter-attacks. Israeli airstrikes began on Sunday evening and continued into Monday. They targeted Houthi bases in southern Yemen, including Hodeidah, Ras Isa and Salif Port. The IDF also announced that it had bombed the Ras Qanatib power plant. It was reported at the time that the Houthis had hijacked the 'Galaxy Leader' ship, which was due to arrive in India in 2023, and mistakenly believed it to be an Israeli ship. The IDF said that the ship had been completely destroyed in the latest attacks.
