Police stations: Modernization of police stations in old basti

Charminar (Hyderabad):State Transport and B.C. Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the newly constructed Chhatrinaka Traffic Police Station and Shalibanda Police Stations in Hyderabad Old Town along with the modernized Police Commissioner's Office in Purani Havelialongwith Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated everyone who worked hard to bring the Kotwal House Purani Haveli building back into use and bring it back to its former glory.

He informed that funds will be provided to increase the number of CCTV cameras in every police station in the city. He said that the office was located in Purani Haveli, which was called The Kotwal Houseandserved as the police headquarters from 1920 to 2002. He informed that four years ago, the building was planned to be demolished after its roof collapsed. For the renovation, AC Urban Development Private Limited and Greenco Group came to the hospital and said that they would bear the entire cost of the renovation of the building, and the renovation work began in December 2022, and he congratulated everyone for saving the historic building.

MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, MLC Mirza Riaz ul Afendhi, Charminar, Bahadurpura MLAs Mir Zulfiqar Ali, Mohammad Mubeen, Additional CP Crime Vishwa Prasad, Joint CP Traffic Joel Davis, South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra, Vigilance and Enforcement Director AR. Srinivas, Police Housing Corporation MD M. Ramesh Reddy, DCP SB Apoorva Rao, CAR Headquarters DCP Rakshita Krishna Murthy, Traffic DCP Venkate Swarlu, South East Zone DCP Chaitanya Kumar along with ACPs and CIs of the old city participated in the program.

Which comes under Hyderabad Old City?

The Charminar is located in the centre of the old city, and the area includes the city's major neighbourhoods such as Shah Ali Banda, Yakutpura, Dabirpura, Afzal Ganj, Mughalpura, Malakpet and Amberpet.
