Authorities are on high alert as flood inflows into the SrisailamDamreservoir are increasing. Approximately 1.20 lakh cusecs of water is flowing into the Srisailam reservoir from the Jurala project and 60 thousand cusecs from the Sunkeshula project of the Tungabhadra river. In view of the increasing flood levels, the project managers are preparing to lift the dam gates if necessary.

Monday's decision in light of rising water levels

The full water level of the Srisailam project is 885 feet, and currently 877 feet of water has been recorded in the reservoir. As the flood flow continues, it is expected to reach the full water level soon. With this, the project gates (Srisailam Dam Gates) are likely to be lifted on Monday (July 8), according to sources in the Irrigation Department. It is reported that the people of the villages downstream of the dam will be alerted and necessary precautionary measures will be taken.

Government departments on alert - instructions to the public

In the wake of the floods, the state government is coordinating with the relevant departments to alert people in the areas surrounding the Srisailam project. People are being advised to stay away from dangers in areas where water flow is high. Also, officials are appealing to take precautions in the coastal areas of the Krishna River after the project gates are lifted.
