Kharif Season: There should be no shortage of urea – Minister Thummala appeals

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that the Kharif season is beginning in Telangana and farmers have started cultivating crops due to the rains. However, farmers are expressing extreme dissatisfaction due to the non-availability of urea at a time when they want to cultivate crops. He said that the shortage of important fertilizers like urea is likely to affect cultivation.

Kharif Season: There should be no shortage of urea

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that the Kharif seasonis beginning in Telanganaand farmers have started cultivating crops due to the rains. However, farmers are expressing extreme dissatisfaction due to the non-availability of urea at a time when they want to cultivate crops. He said that the shortage of important fertilizers like urea is likely to affect cultivation.

The reason is the lack of adequate supply from the center.

Tummala commented that the main reason for this situation is the lack of adequate supplyof ureafrom the Centre . Keeping in mind the demand for fertilizers in the state, he urged the Central Government to increase the quota allocated to Telangana from RFCL (Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited) in Ramagundam. He said that the needs of farmers can be met only if the Centre takes proactive steps.

Appeal to the Center to provide adequate supplies

Tummala stated that the demand for urea in the state is likely to increase further in the next three months. Hence, he clarified that there is a need to provide adequate quantities of fertilizers in advance. Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao appealed to the Centre to take steps to ensure uninterrupted distribution of fertilizers to farmers and to cooperate with the state government.
