Maharashtra: 767 farmers commit suicide in Maharashtra in 3 months

Farmer suicides have once again become a topic of discussion in the state of Maharashtra . The state's Minister of State Makarand Jadhav revealed in the Legislative Council that 767 farmers committed suicide in the first three months of this year. Farmers are in deep despair due to reasons like poor rainfall, debt burden, crop losses and lack of support from the government. These statistics are a testament to the deterioration in the state's agriculture sector.

Strong criticism from the opposition – allegations that the government has failed

Opposition leaders have been openly raising the issue of farmers ' suicides and criticizing the government. They are angry that the government has failed to provide adequate compensation to the affected farmer families and has not been able to provide the necessary financial and technical support to the agricultural sector. They especially allege that the mental confusion of a hardworking farmer and his suicide reveals the failure of the rulers.
