Telangana Government constitutes Future City Development Authority

The State government has constituted the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) to oversee the development of the Future City Area, a pet project of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The newly-formed authority will cover 56 revenue villages spread over 765.28 sq km in Rangareddy district with a focus on integrated urban planning and economic development.

36 Revenue Villages Excluded from Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR)

With this, the government has excluded 36 revenue villages from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) and extended its jurisdiction to 1,355 villages in 11 districts, covering 10,472.72 sq km. Thus, the jurisdiction of HMR will extend up to the Regional Ring Road (RRR), covering a buffer area of ​​up to 2 km outside the RRR, which will then be designated as the RRR Growth Corridor.

Telangana Government to Form Future City Development Authority

The move is in line with the state government's plan to develop an economic and industrial cluster in the Future City Area to be built near Mucherla. The Future City project will be developed in 12 sectors, with comprehensive master planning, multi-modal connectivity, modern urban amenities, radial roads with metro rail connectivity among other future-ready projects. The FCDA will be headed by the chief minister. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister will be the vice-chairman, and officials from Finance, Municipal Administration, Industries, and Information Technology will be members, who will oversee its planning and implementation.
