Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Ghana's highest honour 'The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana' on Wednesday. Apart from this, both the countries signed 4 different agreements ( MoU ). On the highest honour, PM Modi said - It is a matter of pride for me to be honoured by Ghana. Before this, he made a joint statement with Ghana's President John Mahama . Modi said that India and Ghana consider terrorism as the enemy of humanity and will work together against it.

Modi said that this is not the time for war, but problems should be solved through dialogue and diplomacy. Both the countries are unanimous on reforms in the United Nations (UN). Along with this, both expressed concern over the ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Europe.

PM Modi said- 'Trade between India and Ghana has crossed Rs 25 thousand crores and the target is to double it in the next 5 years.' He invited Ghana's President John Mahama to visit India.

Important points of PM Modi's address ...

  • India will support Ghana in Fintech and share experiences in digital transactions through UIP.
  • India will double ITEC and ICCR scholarships for Ghanaian youth and support the 'Feed Ghana' programme.
  • India will work together in training of Ghana Army, maritime security, defence supplies and cyber security.
  • India will provide affordable and reliable healthcare services to the people of Ghana through Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
  • We will also increase mutual cooperation in vaccine development, assistance in defence and security, and cyber security.
  • India will build a skill development centre for vocational education of Ghanaian youth.

4 MoUs were signed between the two countries

The two countries signed four important agreements (MoU). Foreign Ministry Secretary Dammu Ravi said that these agreements will further strengthen the relations between the two countries.

  • First Agreement:Establishment of Joint Commission meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs level.
  • Second Agreement:Both countries will share training and experience of experts in the field of traditional medicine.
  • The third agreementis related to cultural activities, which will promote cultural programs and tourism.
  • Fourth agreement ??standard setting (setting quality rules for products and services), which will increase economic cooperation.

Modi was given a 21-gun salute

  • PM Narendra Modi arrived in the African country Ghana on Wednesday. Ghana's President John Mahama welcomed him at the airport in the capital Accra. PM Modi was given a guard of honor with a 21-gun salute.
  • After this Modi reached the hotel, where he was welcomed by the people of the Indian community. Outside the hotel, school children dressed in Indian attire recited shlokas in Sanskrit to Modi.
  • He later held bilateral talks with the President of Ghana at the Jubilee House in the capital, Accra.
